Following Mosaico promotion on GiveawayOfTheDay website Ashraf wrote a cool review about Mosaico on dottech.org. Both Pros and Cons are analyzed and the final verdict is good! Thank you Ashraf and dottech.org! I can say that the Cons you noticed are being fixed and will be available in the next version of Mosaico (more about that in the next days!) Make sure to check the review out as it’s very well written!

GiveawayOfTheDay promotion is now closed, so Mosaico can’t be registered anymore for free. Other promotions like this will be available in the future so stay tuned! Please remember though that Mosaico is STILL a FREE software and will continue working with some limitations even if you don’t register it. So click on “Download and buy” tab and grab your copy now!

Great news: a new version of Mosaico is available for download!
This version 1.3 is certainly the one that improves Mosaico the most since it was originally released. There are four huge improvements:
1. Multi-monitor support: Mosaico can be now used on a multi-monitor PC configuration. Auto-Arrange spans windows across two (or more) monitors and so does Manual-Arrange. The use of two or more monitors really unleashes the power of Mosaico and makes it useful when you’re working with many application at a time;
2. Snapshots persistence: one of the most requested features is now available! Now when you close Mosaico and reopen it, you’ll find the snapshots you left there before closing! In other words snapshots are saved to the hard disk and get reloaded when you reopen Mosaico. This is particularly useful for example when you have to reboot your PC and don’t want to lose your windows layout. It is perfect if you have a set of predefined layout you use often as well;
3. Windows 64 bit support: Mosaico now has been tested and adapted (not without a great effort!) to work on 64bit flavors of Windows (XP, Vista and Seven)!
4. Improved GUI: the graphical user interface has been revised and made less intrusive. Now Mosaico in its “rest” position is a semi-transparent bar, not taller than a common window title bar. This should help it not getting in the way covering the “important” stuff! Mosaico docks as well on the top of the screen so can be placed in the right spot easily.
Many other improvements are about several bug fixed, a cool “Share on Facebook” button to let you friends know you’re using Mosaico and in general a more seamless experience.
Mosaico 1.3 can be DOWNLOADED HERE. As usual please feel free to contact me at info@soulidstudio.com or to drop a comment on the website. You can also subscribe to Soulid Studio NEWSLETTER filling the box on the right!
So grab your brand new copy of Mosaico 1.3, share it with your friends and remember that Mosaico is FREE to use even after the 14-days trial period (even though some features are limited).
Thank you, enjoy!
It’s been a hard-work week, but I can say that work pays off (at last). One of the three pillars of the next release of Mosaico is persistence of snapshots (the others being multi-monitor and 64 bit OS support). Persistence among Windows sessions means that you’ll be able to take a snapshot, reboot your PC (or just restart Mosaico) and find that snapshot exactly where you left it, ready to be used. In other words snapshots don’t disappear when you close Mosaico. This means that you can set up a couple of layouts you use frequently, i.e. an image editor full screen on the first one and a pair of browser side by side on the second one, and recall them the morning when you get to work and boot your PC.
This mechanism is so simple to describe as it is hugely useful in practice. It really adds value to Mosaico. It’s been quite tricky to implement though! For example, it’s clear that if a snapshot has an application window that is not actually open yet, Mosaico has to open it. But what happens if you take a snapshot, then close AND reopen i.e. an explorer window and then you restore that snapshot? The snapshot contains an explorer window but it’s not the PARTICULAR one you’ve closed, that no longer exists. What to do here? Blindly open another explorer since the one we were searching for doesn’t exists anymore, or do a smarter thing and use the spare one? In this case I think the latter option is the best. However it is not always true that doing the “smart” thing is the best choice. Many developers think that “the smart thing” is to guess what the user want to do and silently do it under the hood. For example if you install an MP3 player I guess that you want to listen to your music, so do you mind if I scan ALL of your drives and directories (even network or USB ones) and COPY all MP3s to a secret directory renaming them in an incomprehensible way? Yes, I do mind. In this case “being smart” is not being smart. I’m trying not to do such things and keep Mosaico predictable.
Mosaico is a tool. An electronic one, with a precise scope, maybe not so general, but nonetheless it is a tool. It is my firm opinion that the greatest quality that a tool can have is predictability. A great tool must do what you expect it to do. Excessive simplicity or smartness can lead to unpredictability, so they cannot be used to evaluate the usefulness of a tool. As I expect Mosaico not to open unnecessary windows as I expect an MP3 player to just play the MP3 file I want to be played. This is the philosophy that drives the development of Soulid Studio software.
By the way: snapshots persistence has been fully implemented and will be part of the next release of Mosaico! If you want to keep track of Mosaico releases you can easily subscribe to Soulid Studio newsletter using the box on the right. Any comment/suggestion is welcome, please feel free to contact me at info@soulidstudio.com.
Please also keep in mind that once you install Mosaico you can keep using it even after the 14 days full-version trial, with just few limitations. If you like Mosaico please spread the word among your friends. If you’re into Facebook please Soulid Studio page with your contacts!
Enjoy!
The most requested feature in Mosaico recent appearance on GiveawayOfTheDay.com was the support of multiple monitor. Arranging windows or having a snapshot fully restored is certainly a great feature for those of us who work on a dual-monitor configuration. This feature has been in development since quite a while, and I’m happy to announce that it’s now ready and will be part of the upcoming next version of Mosaico!
You can get a sneak preview of this feature, along with the renewed user interface still under development, in this screenshot.

As you can see the 3D pictureflow view has become wider to accommodate multi-monitor snapshots!
Congratulations to BuBBy who sent the most voted idea on GiveawayOfTheDay.com (that was: add multi-monitor support!). BuBBy wins a free commercial license code for both Mosaico and TurnOffScreen! You’re being contacted to the email you provided so that you can reclaim your win!
If you have any comment/suggestion feel free to drop a comment, contact me at info@soulidstudio.com or use the contact form: it is up and running again now!
NEWS: you can also subscribe to Soulid Studio newsletter using the subscribe form you find on the right. Newsletter will be used to send you both important news (such as a new version release) and special offers on our software! Enjoy!
The promotion on GiveawayOfTheDay.com website has just finished! I hope you’ve grabbed your free full license of Mosaico and enjoy it!
As far as I’m concerned this has been a great, great experience and all your feedbacks and ideas will help a lot in improving Mosaico in the future releases.
Some ideas were absolutely original, some others were already in Mosaico “to do” list, but all of them were great. And it will be exciting to integrate them into Mosaico to make it a better experience for the users (you and me!).
Just to mention some of new features you will find in the upcoming versions:
- Full support of 64 bit Windows
- Full support for multiple-monitor configurations
- A less-invasive user interface, with the possibility to hide Mosaico in a dropdown semi-opaque toolbar
- Persistence of snapshots even when Mosaico or Windows are restarted
- Screen grab to an image file! (No way, just kidding! Mosaico is not made to do this, you can just use the handy “Print Scr” key on your keyboard! )
As you may have understood, Soulid Studio is a small and young reality, totally self-funded that is trying to “grow slow” but at a constant pace to become a so(u)lid and reliable software developer. Mosaico is our big chance and we (my collaborators and me as software developer) are trying to make it a great user experience. We’re working hard with no big-$$$ resources, so you may find some feature missing or improvable. This is because development is concentrated on some “crucial” features, while some others (also “crucial” I admit) are left out to later releases.
The important thing in all this is communication! So I’ll be keeping you informed with development news on this website. You can subscribe to our RSS feed http://www.soulidstudio.com/feed/, email me at info@soulidstudio.com or just drop a comment anywhere in the news section!
So stay tuned, thank you again and enjoy!

A new version of Soulid Studio Mosaico is available! You can download the 1.2.0 from our download page.
After the release of 1.1.1 I thought hard at what could have been made Mosaico more usable and useful. And I tried to do my best to go in this direction with development! The biggest news in the application is the brand new “Manual arrangement” feature. Selecting it you can freely drag any window around the screen and get it arranged by Mosaico. A transparent green overlay will show you the next possible position of the window as you move it. Just release dragging when you’re happy with it and the window will be placed there.
I think manual arrangement is a big improvement, but another great news is that Mosaico becomes absolutely free to use! For the first 14 days after activation all the features will be enabled. After this period Mosaico will run in a “lite” mode, with few restrictions over the full version. So you can choose: you can buy the full version (thus supporting future improvements!) or you can continue using the lite version forever and for free!
And last but not least… should you decide to support Mosaico development by purchasing the full version, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s gone under a major price cut and now is available for only $29.95 ! You can buy the full license clicking here!
I hope these are great news for you as they are for me! Thank you for all your support, enjoy you copy of Mosaico and, if you want, drop me a message at info@soulidstudio.com.

 Mosaico
After long months of hard work I’m proud to announce that the new product of Soulid Studio is finally here!
Mosaico is a utility that gives you complete control of your desktop windows.
You can anytime save the position of the windows on your desktop in a “snapshot”.
You can restore this snapshot later, even if you have moved/resized the windows in the meanwhile.
Windows will be automatically restored in the position they had when you took the snapshot.
You can take several snapshots to freeze different situations.
You can also use the powerful “Arrange” feature that will automatically distribute the windows, maximizing the area covered on your monitor.
Mosaico can really speed up your work and play at the PC!
In the next days the website will be modified to welcome this newborn, in the meantime you can download it here:
and use it for 21 days before trial expires.
And if you find it useful (I’m sure you will!) you can buy the full unlimited license here:
at a cracking price of only $39.95!
